As of April 21, 2015, your website traffic may suddenly plummet. Why you ask? Blame “mobilegeddon”.
The term mobilegeddon was coined by the Internet after Google announced it would be promoting sites that are responsive, or mobile-friendly, in organic search results and demoting those sites that are not.
What does that mean for your medical practice website? Essentially, if your website looks the same on every screen (compare your desktop, smartphone and tablet for example) then you lose a majority of that search engine optimization (SEO) you’ve spent so much time and money generating.
In fact, according to a report in USA Today, a website which previously ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in a search query could fall to ninth or 10th place when viewed on a mobile device.
That’s a huge drop!
And the lower your website is, the less search traffic you’ll see – meaning there is less opportunity to convert potential patients into appointments.
